The Computer Learning Center is a fully accessible computer training facility in Lawrence, Kansas for persons with disabilities. The lab consists of 11 new personal computers, equipped with large wide screens, a variety of software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and typing instruction programs. The computers are equipped with a variety of assistive technologies to insure their accessibility to all individuals. Our assistive technology includes screen readers for Windows, screen magnification, voice input, alternative keyboards, trackballs, keyboard modification software, scanners and a Braille printer.

Rules:

� No Food or Drinks by the computers. Please place on the table next to the door.

� Children are acceptable if accompanied by a responsible adult and maintain a quiet environment. We reserve the right to ask you to leave for the day if children are disturbing other persons.

� Maintain a G rated environment

� Printing is available in black and white and is $0.10 per page. Pricing subject to change but will be posted.

Computer Lessons

Independence, Inc. now has private lessons and At-Your-Own-Pace Learning Software available. Please be patient if you have already called. We have your name and will be contacting you for available time slots.

Private Lessons: $30/hour on almost any software

At-Your-Own-Pace Learning Software:$30 for 2 month Login
Software is only available in the Computer Lab during CLC Hours listed above and you will be assigned to a specific computer.

Logins are not transferable or refundable.

Computer/Technology Donations

Independence, Inc. consistently needs updated equipment for the daily business and educational activities. We welcome donations of electronic or competitive technological devises.

We Accept:

Working computers and equipment if:

� Microsoft Windows XP or newer

� Pentium 4 processor or newer

� Memory Sticks/ Flash Drives/ Thumb Drives

� Other devices on a case by case basis

For Assistive Technology Devices please contact the AT department at 785-841-0333 ext. 124.

We Do Not Accept:

� Dirty electronics

� Non-functioning/ broken/ damaged equipment

� Overly out dated equipment

� CRT (large TV like) monitors

� Television related equipment

� Satellite dishes or related equipment

Good Rule of Thumb: If it is more than 5 years old it will have to be recycled unless it is specialized assistive technology.

Please back up any personal information you need to keep and then delete those items. We will completely erase the computers we receive to preserve your privacy.

Please send a very detailed email to it-ticket@independenceinc.org with the type of equipment, any model numbers and operating system if applicable. We will contact you about your equipment and arrange receipt or suggest a recycling company or other business that may need the equipment. If you would like to call 841-0333 and leave a detailed description with the receptionist. We are not currently loaning computers to consumers. However we do have computer access available in the Computer Learning Center.
