A Little Of Our History...

Full Citizenship, Inc.  (FCI) was established in 1987 to promote options for employment and living situations for individuals with disabilities in Douglas and Franklin Counties.  Our initial mission to serve persons with severe disabilities in transitioning, self-determination, and employment has evolved over the years to the point where FCI's community services now include people with all disabilities and the economically disadvantaged,  We contract with Kansas Rehabilitation Services, Welfare to Work, and the Douglas and Franklin County SRS offices to provide employment placement and intensive case management services.  We are also a licensed HCBS employment services provider.

Our staff has over 30 years of experience helping citizens achieve and maintain independence through strong collaboration with community resources and agencies, a well developed network of employers, and our unwavering mission to do whatever it takes to enable individuals to reach individual goals.  With the appropriate facilitation, education, and guidance, citizens arrive at their best employment and lifestyle choices.

Please contribute to our scholarship/technology funds or our employment clothing bank.  Every tax deductible dollar you donate to FCI is passed along to our clients in the form of direct scholarships to our classes, workshops, and programs or in the form of updated and/or improved technology for our clients.  Scholarships allow clients to attend training when other funding organization have budget constraints. They also allow clients going through the sometimes lengthy approval process for government assistance and funding to start receiving employment services as soon as possible. Technological updates include everything from current software so our clients can learn and keep skills current to computers and printers that allow clients to job search on the web, create and print professional quality resumes and cover letters, and, when possible, receive older but serviceable computers for home use.  We are always willing to accept donations of legal software as well as any working, useable computers and hardware.  Clothing suitable for interviewing or the work environment allows clients to enter the workforce prepared and well attired.  FCI's goal has been and always will be to serve as many people both NEEDING and WANTING To become self-sufficient, contributing citizens in their communities.  Your contributions allow us to continue our mission.  Please contact us at rmerz@independenceinc.org for information about how and where to donate funds or technology.  Thank you.
