ACCESSIBLE RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS (ARO)

Are you looking for a fully accessible universally designed apartment in Lawrence?  Accessible Residential Options (ARO) has one or two bedroom apartments designed specifically for maximum access for tenants who use wheelchairs.  The ARO Apartments are located on two sites of fourplexes in central and east Lawrence. Low to moderate income tenants can qualify. Rent is based on income and medical expenses.  

Accessibility features include:

• Roll-in shower

• Accessible entrance on accessible path

• Grab bars in bathroom

• Knee clearance under bathroom sink and kitchen counters

• Front loading washer and dryer

• Accessible environmental controls

Because the apartments were universally designed for maximum wheelchair access, priority will be given to applicants with physical disabilities.  Waiting lists may apply, and approval is based on satisfactory background checks.
